This past season, my Cincinnati Bengals FINALLY won a playoff game (First time in my lifetime). Led by Joe Burrow, they exceeded expectations by making the Super Bowl. We didn't win, but the year was clearly a success. Fast forward to the off-season. The Cleveland Browns invited quarterback Deshaun Watson of the Houston Texans to a meeting. Baker Mayfield, the current Browns quarterback, then posted on Twitter a potential "goodbye" post to the city of Cleveland.
Multiple analysts on mainstream television said they would take Watson over Mayfield, to which I agree. HOWEVER, a few said they would also take Watson over Burrow, Herbert, Jackson, and Wilson. Excluding Brady, Rodgers, and Mahomes (excluding these three because that was the approach used on the broadcast segment), here are MY top 5 QBs in the NFL.
*This is based on a neutral situation and keeping that QB for a window of 3 to 5 years.
Josh Allen
Joe Burrow
Matthew Stafford
Russell Wilson
Justin Herbert
This is my top 5 (again not including Brady, Rodgers, and Mahomes). Kyler Murray, Lamar Jackson, Deshaun Watson were all honorable thoughts. Let me know who your top 5 are, using these same parameters.
1. Allen 2. Burrow 3. Murray 4. Herbert 5. Wilson I think of how excited would I be to have them on my team and this would be the order. Stafford because of age and injury is our big difference here. Also gave consideration to Trevor Lawrence based on upside and Dak when healthy. With Watson he’s been out for too long before I reconsider, but I like the top 5.
